Welcome to the Kehilat Chaverim – where Judaism is celebrated
Registration for Kehilat Chaverim Membership and Mailing List are available online
In the weeks since Hamas’ October 7 attacks on Israel, many of us have sought ways to mourn, to express solidarity, to combat antisemitism, and to be in community. The KC Steering Committee decided that we would compile a resource list on Israel-Gaza for our members. This list is now available at https://www.kehilatchaverim.org/middle-east-conflict/
Thank you to all who joined us for High Holiday services in 2022 and 2023, either in person or via Zoom. It is your participation that makes Kehilat Chaverim a
Community of Friends.
Kehilat Chaverim proudly joins with more than 500 Jewish organizations from around the US, supporting Black Lives Matter. Read the full statement here.

Kehilat Chaverim means “community of friends.” Comprising about 80 households in Greater Hartford, CT, Kehilat Chaverim was established in 1978 to find new ways to explore and express Jewish identity that is independent of synagogue affiliation.
We share a commitment to the creation of warmth and community, to non-doctrinaire, egalitarian approaches to Judaism without sacrificing tradition, and to a welcoming atmosphere for people of all ages, religious backgrounds, sexual orientation or lifestyle.
Members plan and run all programs as there is no official religious leader. We rent space as needed or meet in members’ homes. Committee participation by at least one adult in each member household is a membership requirement.
Kehilat Chaverim was founded on the guiding principles of respect for diversity and expression of Jewish identify independent of affiliation with a synagogue
