Re: Revised KC Respiratory Illness Policy for KC-sponsored Indoor Events

Dear KC Members and Friends,

We have revised the November 2022 KC Covid policy in light of changed circumstances.  Due to the decreased prevalence of Covid in Connecticut and at the request of members at the annual meeting, we have eliminated the requirement that event attendees must test for Covid before attending a KC-sponsored indoor event.  Our new policy tracks the Centers for Disease Control’s (CDC) shift to one set of recommendations for most common respiratory illnesses, including Covid, influenza, and RSV.

For KC-sponsored indoor events, stay at home if you have respiratory virus symptoms that aren’t better explained by another cause.  These symptoms can include fever, chills, fatigue, cough, runny nose, and headache.  You can come to a KC-sponsored indoor event if, for at least 24 hours, both of these are true: 1) Your symptoms are getting better overall, and 2) You have not had a fever (and are not using fever-reducing medication).  We recommend that you wear a mask at KC-sponsored indoor events for 5 days after you improve and are fever-free.

Also, please stay home if you know or believe that you have recently been exposed to Covid or another potentially serious respiratory illness, even if you are asymptomatic.

More detailed guidance from the CDC can be found at this link:

A vote was taken on the above and the revised policy was approved unanimously by the Steering Committee.

Sincerely,

The Kehilat Chaverim Steering Committee
